Description
Carcross is a tiny village in Canada's Yukon territory. The Yukon is one of Canada's three northern territories and somewhere I was lucky enough to call home for seven years. Each year in late August the leaves would begin to change and the landscape became a living canvas. The mountainsides were painted crimson and red, while the vast aspen forests glowed gold and orange. It is, in my opinion, the most beautiful time of year in the far north. The village of Carcross gets its name from Caribou Crossing - it is a traditional migratory route of the caribou. I took this photo of aspen trees reflected in Nares Lake when the first snow was just starting to creep down the mountainsides. It has been digitally layered with textures and ephemera and "painted" using digital techniques in Photoshop.
